The annual Leeds International Film Festival is showcasing numerous films fro worldwide cinema, over the short two week period it’s on this year. Between the 4th to the 16th November, there will be a number of features and a number of Japanese film screenings, both anime and live-action throughout cinemas in Leeds.

The two anime films this year are The Sword of the Stranger, which is about a young Kotaro and his dog, who is being hunted by the Mings from China. The pair encounter a nameless samurai and have to fight for survival and Mind Game, which is about Nishi, who loves Myon and has dreamed since they were little. As adults he wants to pursue his dream of becoming a manga artist and marrying his childhood sweetheart, but with the big problem – she’s already engaged. He then tries to figure out what he’s going to do with his life, and encounter the Yakuza on the way.

Another film to note is a spinoff to Death Note, which is titled: L Change the World. Set 23 days before the last Death Note Live Action film, it shows another case that L has worked on. L has to work with children and others to thwart an evil terrorist group on releasing an ebloa style virus onto the world.
