Naruto 7th Most Searched Topic

by - on the 5 December, 2008 at 2.08 pm

Today Viz Media have announced that the fan-favourite and now legendary Naruto franchise was the 7th most popular search on the well used search engine Yahoo over the past year.

That means that Naruto has been searched for more than American Idol, one half of the power couple Angelina Jolie and the next biggest meltdown compared to Britney, Lindsay Lohan.

Viz Media are understandably happy:

“NARUTO’S ranking on the Yahoo! Top 10 Searches for 2008 list proves once again the worldwide strength of this popular brand which has entertained countless fans across the globe,” says Gonzalo Ferreyra, VIZ Media Vice President of Sales and Product Marketing. “We are honored to be on a list that includes future president Barack Obama, top hot trend American Idol, and pop culture icons such as Miley Cyrus, Angelina Jolie and others. This validates just how mainstream this property and the unique genres of Japanese manga and anime have become in our popular culture.”

With the latest Naruto film due out this month, as well as the next portion of the Naruto series, Naruto has become a staple in the anime, manga and videogame community.
