It has today¬† been confirmed via Anime News Network and one of the chan websites that GONZO’s Strike Witches has become the first anime in Japan to sell more than 10,000 copies since another one of GONZO’s titles, Vandread in 2001. Strike Witches has been on DVD distribution for less than a month, with the Japanese release date of 26th September, 2008.

This may be one of the driving factors behind GONZO allowing the anime streaming website, Crunchyroll to be legally allowed to stream Strike Witches, along with BLASSREITER and The Tower of Druaga: The Aegis of Uruk.

Currently there are no plans to distribute this DVD in the UK as of yet, but it took Welcome to the N.H.K nearly two years to come out in the UK, so we may see a physical distribution of this in the future.
