It’s recently been announced by Tezuka Productions that over 700 manga titles and 100 anime titles will be available on the internet for free, later this week. It has further been stated that all products created before 2000 by this studio will be available online for free, that includes Astro Boy, Jungle Emperor, Princess Knight, Phoenix and various others.
Along side this, Tezuka Productions are planning on setting up a paid video distribution site, DVD retail sites in both English and Korean. It needs to be noted that all manga browsing will require a plugin for Windows based PCs.
The announcement marks part of the Tezuka Production’s creator: Osamu Tezuka’s 80th birthday, who passed away in the late 80s. Along side the work being available for free online, Tezuka have also been colouring the manga as well.
